Liz Anderson

profile picLiz Anderson is currently the Teaching Director for the Greenwich Evening Co-Ed Community Bible Study in Greenwich, Connecticut. She has taught adult Sunday school as well as spoken for large group bible studies, retreats, and services in both church and para-church settings. Her objective is to bring scripture alive in order to bring transformation to the lives of her listeners.

Liz Anderson began teaching in church at the age of 17. She has taught Bible and Sunday school classes for virtually every age group over the last 35 years using many different styles and curriculums. Her most successful teaching has come from curriculums which she developed herself although she finds using published curriculums a fun “jumping off” place as well.

Liz attended Iowa State University and received her undergraduate degree in Medical Technology from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Her work in scientific research developed her natural curiosity and interest in scholarly research. Liz gave up science to stay home with her three young children. This time at home allowed her to change her direction towards Bible study. She taught children’s classes, led worship for retreats and children’s programs, launched women’s groups, led small groups, spoke and lead workshops for women’s groups, and revamped a successful children’s program in her church. During these years she began to sense God’s call to pastoral ministry.

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, Liz sat in her first seminary class. One year later she began teaching and speaking to adults as the Director of Adult Spiritual Formation for her local church. Six years later she graduated from the Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, New York with a Masters of Divinity. Liz became the Teaching Director for the Greenwich Evening Co-ed Community Bible Study class in Greenwich , Connecticut in 2009. In 2011 she launched in order to host videos of her Community Bible Study talks but primarily for the purpose of encouraging and mentoring Christians who sense that they too have the spiritual gift of teaching. Liz is working on her Doctorate in Preaching the Literary Forms of the Bible through Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Liz loves to speak, teach, write, take pictures, travel and entertain. She is an independently ordained minister through the National Association of Christian Ministers. She lives in Darien, CT with her husband John and her mother. She has two grown children and one son in college. Liz would love to hear from you at or read your comments on the BibleMaven page on Facebook.
